Update [8] - 11Feb21

Welcome to this update post (8) for "a ghostly desire".

THANK YOU
 for your interest in this project!

--> What happend the last week?!

I re-structured the whole game!
It took me almost three days, to set up, a new 'kind of concept' to work with the different quest lines (main & side quests)
From alpha 0.2 it is possible, to play more like "how YOU want to play" because the quests are now accessible "if you like" and not longer "because the game tells you that you have to do.."

QUEST SYSTEM:

--> What does it mean?
The game itself stays linear, based on the main story!
For each location there will be one or more different side quests, you could do.
If you find a side quest by discovering the gamescreens, you are able to continue this side quest, or do the quest later, or do the quest(s) never!
Some side quests are still obligatory, because some of them are importent, to continue the main quest line, or open new locations, or meet new character.

(e.g. to continue the main story within mc home, you need to do the 'sheet quest',
but if you do the 'picture frame quest line*', or the 'computer quest line*' too, it's totally up to you!)
[*this quest lines will be accessible with alpha 0.2]

Based on locations/characters, you could choose, if you like them then play, or avoid them and keep going forward.
The new quest systems allows you, to come back later, if you like and start or continue side quest lines, if you avoid them earlier.
[If you skip side quest lines, you'll skip scenes too, but if you don't like a specific character, you'll maybe don't want to get access to this scenes]

This new quest system allows me a completly free development-base, e.g. to add new quests for "older locations".
Maybe a player would request something later, i could easily add it, if i want to.

QUEST LOG:

--> How does it work?
Within this three days of quest-system rework, i fully integraded the (now functional) quest log too.
There will be 4 different states:

- ''showing next hint'' (to know what to do next to continue a quest)
- ''waiting..'' (the current quest is waiting, for some specific 'step' inside another quest to continue)
- ''completed'' (..quest line is completed .. obviously :D )
- ''wait for the next game update'' (the current end of a quest line, inside a version, based on the development)

--> NOTE:
The quest log does NOT replace the wakthrough guide
The quest log only helps you through the quests, but won't show or guide you to 'secrets', easter egg's or 'hidden suprises'
( e.g. hidden things like the "back room scene")

SAVE/LOAD GAME

My attention was drawn of a problem with the "load game" function.
Unfortunately, i totally missed this and it is a mistake, that could have been avoided!
Sadly this stupid error is now (alpha 0.1) present, but i already fixed the issue immediatly, so that within the alpha 0.2 everything will be fine

At the moment, i already think about the issue, that 'save games' from older versions, won't be compatible with  newer versions.
I really hope to find a good solution for that

Inside the next game folder there will be also a text-document, wich tells you, where to find the save game's.
The location is placed here:
C:\Users\ <YOUR USER NAME> \AppData\Local\Simon Thomson\a ghostly desire\savegames

PROGRESS:
Over the last days i finished Larissa's entrance and added the story opening quest line for her/her location.
I have progressed very well with the main story and currently with the side story(s) for "mc's room"
I don't want to rush to fast to the 'alpha 0.2', rather i want to offer significantly more game content for version 0.2,
wich will include also some new reachable scenes of course :)
There are also some screens, that still need the 'visual upgrade'!

Thank you :)
